Below are two examples of design documents that I created while studying at PlaygroundSquad UK. These are both for games which were meant to be developed in less than two months with a small team, so their scope is reflective of that.
Attack Of The Gnomes
A first-person tower defence game where you need to defend yourself from Gnomes by laying traps. As opposed to other Tower Defence games, the player is the tower and can move around to avoid being conquered.

A 2D metroidvania where the player controls a variety of different animals in order to recapture other animals that have escaped from the Scientist. Each animal has its own unique abilities to help the player progress through the game.
